Purple Lab’s Fave for Holidays!

December 10, 09
Of course, I’d love it if you did some Huge Lips Skinny Hips as a stocking stuffer – and preordered other products for V-day! But… I also get that you want to get other things. So I put together my favorite-faves (top 10!) for holiday gifting, all the things that really embody the energy of Purple Lab, the lifestyle of it!
First and foremost… Piper-heidsieck’s Le Rituel collaboration with Christian Louboutin that comes with a bottle of bubbly and a crystal flute in the shape of a Louboutin heel. And you know how I love my Red Soles!

Next on my must-have/must-give list… The best, coziest, chicest boyfriend sweater from two of my style icons, Mary-Kate and Ash! You will live in it. Meet The Row’s “Knightsbridge” cardigan. I love it in charcoal grey (I like to spell grey the British way with an “e,” by the way).
110611Big fan of the coffee table book here. This one is by two of my favorite fashion photographers. Genius! They shoot for every major magazine in such an artful, edgy way. Inez van Lamsweerde & Vinoodh Matadin’s “Fotographie”

We all need a good pad and one that is arty and groovy always makes an impression at a biz meeting. Check out this one by one of my favorite, ethereal designers, the Smythson Erdem notebook!

An outfit isn’t an outfit without the right accessories. A fab scarf, always a sophisticated tough. Try one with an embellished fringe of beading and feathers. This is designed by Irini Arakas, a former Vogue editor who does the most coveted pieces around. Here’s the Prova for CO-OP Abstract Sandinista Scarf !

Oversized hoop earrings are worthy of all that hoopla. They never go out of style and can go from bohemian to downtown hipster. My ultimate pick right now? Bottega Veneta Large Silver Plated Intrecciato Earrings – love the homage to the woven bags in its design. Mom, please!

For the art collector who appreciates dark glam, this is the sickest book shelf stand-out piece by Type A, a collaboration between artists  Adam Ames and Andrew Bordwin. This small ”Fear” scuplture is a take on the famous Robert Indiana pop art icon of 3,000 pounds of aluminum. “Fear,” as this piece is called is eternally cool. Available at Goff + Rosenthal gallery in Chelsea, NYC.
Love Love Love! May get it for Todd actually even if it means selling shoes for the cash!

Charlotte Gainsbourg’s new album, IRM, a sexy, sultry mood music vibe that’s perfect for dinner party background downbeats, “business time” in the budoir, and Sunday newspaper reading mornings. Raised in Paris and the daugher of Jane Birkin and Serge Gainsborge, Charlotte is my idol – muse to Nicolas Gesquiere of Balenciaga, actress, ingenue, gorgeous.

If you’re like me and you don’t have a little lamp by your bedside, this is such a good alternative. The Hydra LED Booklight that hooks to whatever you’re reading – cute design, flexible, narrow focus, and not obtrusive so you won’t bother your bed-mate when you’re leafing through the latest issues of US, OK, In Touch, Star, People, and Life & Style or the latest vampire Blue Bloods novel by Melissa de la Cruz.
Put it back in your drawer when you're done!

For a little cheeky whimsy, this candle is surprisingly groovy and funny at once – the shape of a cactus and available at the sickest home design store where all of the furniture is so many thousands, it hurts to visit (Oh, it’s the only place I registered when I got married and nothing came in their signature white and block box!).

Kitchy chic!

Haute holidays to all!

Mwah!
