T minus three days until Purple Lab’s attempt to break the world record for the largest speed dating event in history. It’s on!

There will be 20 Purple Lab peeps (all of whom are generously lending a hand because, clearly, we don’t have that many employees) working the event, from registration to seating escorts to bouncers (Todd will be one so don’t mess with him!). We’re prepping for some serious Steve Ward luvin’ crashers!

4 days until Purple Lab’s World’s Largest Speed Dating Event goes down at the W Hoboken! So I hope you daters out there are getting ready to find your Luvah. As Pat Benetar wisely said, love is a battlefield, so you best be prepared with the ultimate dating tools!

Yesterday, I posted some relationship tips from our event host, Master Matchmaker Steve Ward (VH-1’s Tough Love). As you gear up to speed date to love, I bring you more of his sage advice.

PL: What is the worst thing you can do while speed dating?

SW: Don’t be negative.

You may know that Friday of next week is attempt to break the world record for the largest speed dating event as we launch the new lip product, Luvah, the ultimate dating tool (it’s a cute purple compact with a lip stain and matchy gloss, laced with Dong Quai and two plumpers called “Complexx OO”).  Steve Ward, Master Matchmaker and host of VH-1’s Tough Love is hosting.

Anyway, had a little chat with Mr. Ward. (BTW, I cannot tell you how many girls who registered for the event have asked if he’s single. For the record, he’s not and his girlfriend WILL be using Luvah!)

We are INSANE here in the office as we prep for our speed dating event, hosted by master matchmaker Steve Ward at W Hoboken. INSANE! The email box is overflowing with date-ready girls (thank you, our XX-Chromosomal friends!) and the wait list is growing by the second! And some of my personal friends can’t get in now because we’re at capacity. 

This is literally what Sharon looks like in her overwhelmed moments!

I think that a ton will drop off on the day of – they always do. So we have a big wait list going.

Well, I just filmed mine the other day (I had a bunch of photos, too, but a camera-dropping incident lead to losing EVERYTHING!).

Eventually, I’ll have the real promo to share, but until then, I’ll recap with just words.

It was a blast, though I lost my phone on the way there which sent me in a panicked tizzy. I borrowed phones from everyone I could find, whether I knew them or not, to try to track down Blackberry. I swear, it must be what it’s like to lose a knee cap – you don’t know how much you rely on it until it’s missing.

Luvah is such a sexy product.

How did this happen?

When we did our first contest – Kiss & Tell your Huge Lips Skinny Hips I.D. - we awarded 10 of the most viral the title and send them our makeup products for a year (all of our newbies) . I thought it would be fun to give them challenges based on the lifestyle behind Purple Lab and than share them.

The journey of lab samples to finished product goes something like this…

1. Once approved, testing goes down for the componentry to make sure it is all compatible (I have covered this kind of thing before along with horrendous mishaps that put us in massive holes).

2. The copy I write for product branding – on the component, the box, and the love notes – goes through legal approval. Sometimes, I cry over the tweaks that come back.
